Prishtina, 12 May 2021 – Today, at the premises of the Kosovo Credit Guarantee Fund (KCGF), the two largest Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) in terms of the volume of outstanding loans – KEP Trust and FINCA Kosovo, signed the Guarantee Agreements of agricultural loans within the KCGF Agro Window.
This event marks a milestone for KCGF and the microfinance sector by providing agricultural loan guarantees to local farmers and agribusinesses.
Arsim Bruçaj, Executive Director of the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Kosovo (AMIK) said that the signing of the agreement of Microfinance Institutions with KCGF will be a major impetus to increase lending to farmers and farmers of Kosovo and is a significant step towards increasing financial inclusion in Kosovo.
Kastriot Këpuska, Agro Expert in KCGF declared that this is an important step for all related parties towards the involvement and guarantee of a wider base of financed clients. Farmers financed by MFIs represent an important part of the agricultural sector and the guarantee of their loans is expected to facilitate lending and significantly affect the creation of the best possible conditions for their financing.
Agro Window is a guarantee scheme that operates within the KCGF to support farmers and agribusinesses by guaranteeing loans for this sector. The total capital of Agro Window is EUR 11.5 million and is fully financed by the German Government, through the German Development Bank – KfW.
